Is San Diego’s housing Decline over?

San Diego homes in the lower price ranges are making a steady price gain. Homes on the higher end of the price spectrum are still having difficulty stabilizing prices due to the lack of financing with favorable terms, but the overall numbers look good for the county as a whole.

MDA Dataquick, a San Diego based real estate research company, reported that home prices in San Diego County rose $5000 to a median of $330,000 in December. After four months with no gains or losses, it is a positive sign to see prices move in the upward direction. The 16% surge of sales in December over November helped overall sales finish stronger than anticipated for the year end.

The latest median represented a 10 percent increase from a year earlier, the best such boost since April 2005 at the height of the real estate boom
