Lively Action East Village Downtown San Diego

Downtown San Diego’s East Village is gearing up for opening day of the Padres Baseball season.  San Diego’s Petco Park opens it’s doors for the season opener on April 12th at 3:35pm.  Single day Padres tickets go on sale March 6th so don’ t miss out.

The East Village is always the happening place to be once the baseball season begins as locals and tourists come out to join in all of the action.  Restaurants and bars like The Tilted Kilt, Basic and The Fleetwood are usually packed after the games.  Many visitors come to downtown and visit roof-top bars like Altitude sky lounge or the Indigo Hotel’s 9th floor lounge during the game and the energy runs high.

Residents of Downtown San Diego Condos love their Petco Park Condo living.  Icon San Diego condo owners enjoy their community Skybox, rooftop stadium and viewing terrace featuring direct views into PETCO Park.   Residents at The Legend Condos also enjoy fabulous views into the ballpark from their magnificent 7th floor deck.

altitude-san-diegoThis year, the padres will be sporting their camouflage uniforms in recognition of the militaryThe times for day games been moved back to 3:35pm so more people can take off work a few hours early and still make the game.  This also works well for kids because they won’t be required to miss any school in order to come watch their favorite Padres players. Saturday night games will be the “promotional giveaway” games and they will be giving away items such as bobble head dolls, t-shirts, beach towels and Padres hats.  Sunday games will still be serving up a Sunday morning breakfast and this has always been popular with those that have tried it.

There will be some minor changes to the ball park this year.  The new administration is working with sponsors to clear up some of the clutter of advertisements and add some team branding elements.  It is still undetermined what will be filling the old Candy Factory building, but something should be going in by late 2010.  Please visit here for the 2010 game schedule.

During the Padres away games, there is expected to be a summer concert series to make use of the beautiful space at Petco Park.  There is also discussion of adding a theater within in the ball park’s Park at the Park with somewhere between 6000-1200 seats, but nothing has been finalized yet.  We will be updating as the latest news becomes available.
