Valley View Casino Center

Times are changing a lot in San Diego. Back when I was still shivering in the wintertime in Grand Rapids, Mi, I was a San Diego Clippers fan. I knew someday I was going to live in San Diego.

Unfortunately, the Clippers are long gone. And so is The San Diego Sports Arena where they used to play to very sparse crowds.  It’s amazing how much is going on over on Sports Arena Boulevard though.

The Who playing Casino Shows???

A few weeks ago listening to the radio, I heard a commercial for Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey touring and playing a show at Valley View Casino.  Admittedly, those guys are getting a little old, but they were one of the best bands of my generation.  They surely are too big for a casino.

Then I realized that they were playing at The Valley View Casino Center–formerly the San Diego Sports Arena.  This is a 14,000 seat “arena show,” not a lounge show.

It is a major league venue in every way.  Every style of music, from symphonies (The Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Christmas) to Carrie Underwood to Hip Hop is coming.

Upcoming at The Valley View Casino Center

The sports and entertainment line up at The Valley View Casino Center this winter is going to be exciting.  The Who concert–Quadrophenia and more–that got my attention is coming February 5, 2013.  The tour includes every major North American City.

Other Classic Rock shows this winter include Rush, Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler.  Cirque du Soleil has a 4 night run coming in mid-November.  Sports include all of the San Diego Socker’s home games, The Harlem Globetrotters, ice skating and MMA.

Check it out.  Let me know what your favorites are.
