SpotShare | Stress Free Guest Parking

Imagine this scenario: You’ve just purchased your new Downtown San Diego condo and want to have some friends and family over to celebrate. It’s a Saturday night and parking is: limited and/or is costly and/or a 10 minute walk to your place. Wouldn’t it be great if your building had guest parking? With the exception of a few, most downtown residential buildings do not have guest parking.

SpotShare is an online service that aims to assist residents in finding available parking spaces that are available in their building. How?  Registered users turn their unused parking space into free guest parking, where they donate their space(s) to other residents & their guests, as well as request extra parking. The software that SpotShare uses allows match requests and donations to be done in real time. The best part about it is that it’s free for users! A fee is charged to the HOA, if they choose to operate the service in their building.

Once a complex signs up, service can be started in as little as 2 weeks, and every resident can sign up and participate. Per their website, “The more you donate, the higher priority your priority your requests are given, and the further in advance you can request spots.” It also works for tenant and roommate situations as well, as long as they have control of a parking spot.

Currently, the following Downtown residential buildings that participate (or are in the process of getting started) are:

  • Alta
  • Atria
  • Breeza
  • Cityfront Terrace
  • Diamond Terrace
  • Discovery
  • Fahrenheit
  • Harbor Club
  • ICON
  • M2i
  • Metrome
  • Park Terrace
  • Sapphire Tower
  • The Mark
  • Trellis

What do you think about SpotShare? Does your building offer it? Are you a raving fan? Let us know, we’d love to hear your feedback!

  1. This has been an awesome program at The Mark. Every interaction, wether updating our offering or looking for a space has been positive and gets easier every time. The support staff are quick to respond to any needs so it is generally seamless. thanks go out to those who put this together!

    • Thanks for your response! I believe The Mark was the first downtown San Diego building to offer spot share. It’s such a genius idea and I’ve heard so many great things about the program.
