Fault Line Park

Downtown San Diego’s newest park, recently named Fault Line Park, is slated to open in August 2015 and will be open daily from 6am – midnight. This new park will be located in East Village, on 14th Street between Island Ave & J St. The active fault, Rose Canyon Fault, runs along the coast of San Diego, preventing any development to be built over the fault, hence where the name comes from.

Fault Line Park will include a playground and tot lot, boulders and rolling topography, garden areas, shade trees and trellises, benches, and a pedestrian walkway over the actual fault line. Leashed dogs are also welcomed at the park. Additionally, Halcyon Coffee House/Stella Public House are already open for business, where patrons can enjoy the restaurant/cafe.

The Downtown Community Planning Council held a contest for naming the park and over 20 submissions were received. It came down to a short list of finalists: Fault Line Park, Sinclair Green, The Bob & Shady Green, with Fault Line Park receiving the final recommendation.

This park will be located next to Pinnacle Residential Tower 1, which is scheduled for completion later this year.
