University Heights is a neighborhood in central San Diego adjacent to the Hillcrest and Normal Heights neighborhoods. Its central location means that Downtown, Balboa Park, Mission Valley, San Diego State University and the San Diego Airport are all within a few minutes. The name “University” dates back to the land boom of the 1880s and a plan to build a university in the area, which is now occupied by the San Diego Unified School District. The area is brimming with a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, artist’s studios and live entertainment, primarily on Park Boulevard and Adams Avenue. There are a variety of housing options including condominiums, apartments, cottages and million-dollar homes.
