Smooth Jazz Coming Soon to the Gaslamp Quarter

Mark your calendar, the Smooth FM 98.1 Gaslamp Festival is just over a month away. This event brings the biggest stars in Smooth Jazz to the heart of downtown San Diego’s Historic Gaslamp Quarter! This year’s festival will be held the week before Memorial Day weekend, on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The festival takes place rain or shine (hopefully shine), with gates opening at 12:30 p.m. and the music kicking off at 1:45 p.m. and going until 10:00 p.m.

Get your tickets now! You can purchase tickets online or by calling 877-77-CLICK. According to the website it will be advanced ticket sales only and the cost is $29.

This year’snullis amazing!  The artists include Norman Brown, Craig Chaquico, Eric Darius, Spencer Day, Richard Elliot, Euge Groove, Jessy J, Steve Oliver. Plus numerous other bands and solo artists will be performing at various Gaslamp venues. Listen to Smooth FM 98.1 for the very latest on the Smooth FM 98.1 Gaslamp Festival, including more information on artist line-up and club venues.

Here is a null to aid in your planning! There will be two main stages, located at 6th Avenue and G Street and at 5th Avenue and F Street. The festival wristband will allow full access to the main stage area and all participating venues. It is on a “first-come, first-served” basis meaning the wristbands do not guarantee access if a venue or club is full. Food and beverages are available for purchase at participating venues.

Sorry kiddos, the Smooth FM 98.1 Gaslamp Festival is a 21-years and up event! A few other rules include: no outside bottles, cans or coolers; no outside food or beverages, no chairs, no recording devices of any kind (still cameras are OK). For more information, check out the FAQ & Information.

There is limited parking in the Gaslamp Quarter, so the Trolley is the best way to get there. For those who want to park and take the Trolley, the Metropolitan Transit System recommends using the Old Town Transit Center and Qualcomm Stadium, both of which provide ample free parking. Take the Trolley to the 5th Avenue Station (5th and C), then walk south to the gate at 4th and G. Both the Orange and Blue Lines serve the 5th Avenue station.  The MTS has a Day Pass for $5.00, which provides unlimited riding for one day, and can be purchased at Trolley ticket machines, on board busses, or ahead of time online.

Once again the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter will come alive with fabulous music at this year’s Smooth FM 98.1 Gaslamp Festival! See you May 21st, in the Gaslamp!
