Taste of Gaslamp

Downtown San Dieogo Taste of Gaslamp

The historic Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego is filled with a vast array of restaurants to choose from. One could spend months trying to go to them all… or, why not knock out quite a few in a single weekend? The Taste of Gaslamp is a two-day event, Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with 30+ Gaslamp restaurants participating per day. It is a wonderful opportunity to “taste” from a variety of Gaslamp’s most popular restaurants!

Tickets to the big event are on sale now for $30. I recommend checking out the lists of participating restaurants for each day and choosing the day that most suits you – and if you’re having a hard time choosing, go both days! This is an all-ages event, however a few locations are 21-years and up, including the Samuel Adams Beer Garden (open 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.) and Altitude Sky Lounge.

The San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter is the host of this year’s event and where you go to check-in, and pick up your walking map and wristband. It is located on the northeast corner of 6th Avenue & K Street, at 660 K Street. Once you have picked up your wristband, you are free to visit the restaurants that interest you in any order you choose.

This is a fantastic opportunity to try several restaurants and find that perfect place for your next night out on the town!  I’d be willing to bet the restaurants are going to be providing samples of their most popular dishes so it should be a good indicator of what to expect from a full meal.  Put on some comfortable shoes and come hungry – the Taste of Gaslamp is sure to be a lot of fun!
