New Year’s Eve San Diego Style

It’s New Year’s Eve, San Diego! And this city has something for everyone! Whether you’re looking for a family friendly venue or a place to party till dawn, San Diego is sure to have the perfect place for you to ring in 2012!

Looking for a big bash? Several of the hotels downtown will be hosting big parties. Some options include the Hard Rock Hotel which will have 13 DJs including Sidney Samson, table, and room & bottle service.  Another option is at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, which is hosting Big Night San Diego which boasts 12 themed party areas, 6 dance floors, live performances and DJs, massive balloon drop, first class cuisine and more, with the party raging from 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. The Palomar Hotel will be hosting a Masquerade Ball with Cirque du Soleil acts over the pool, DJ Diggs, Decon & Slowhand, and more!

Want to see something crazy? For the dare-devil, thrill-seeking types and the curios, head down to Embarcadero Marina Park by Seaport Village in downtown San Diego to see snowmobile ace Levi Lavallee and FMX legend Robbie Maddison as they attempt to set new long-distance records for jumping over a water gap. The big jump is set to happen at 8:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve.  Since this is a fairly early event; there will still be time to take in another New Year’s festivity too!

Want to dance till dawn? Stingaree and Guest House, Fluxx, Voyeur, Side Bar and the W Hotel are the top choices this New Year’s eve. Check out their websites for ticket information and detailed information of what each place has to offer.

Looking for something fun to do with your kiddos? Friday, December 30 the New Children’s Museum is going to kick off the New Year’s celebrations with kid-oriented fun! Visit the NCM for an all-day music and dance festival featuring Pink Army, Rhythm Child, Clint Perry & the Boo Hoo Crew, Studio FX, San Diego Guild of Puppetry. Or head to the San Diego Zoo for Jungle Bells which is sure to please the kids with all of the festive lights, shows and of course the animals! A little further north, the Kid’s New Year’s Eve at Legoland in Carlsbad is all about the kids.

Be safe this New Year’s Eve. If your evening involves alcohol, please do not drink and drive. Designate a driver, call a cab, walk or take advantage of AAA’s “Tipsy Tow” service from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. They will tow your car and take you to your home for free (first 7 miles are free). Just call 1-800-222-4357.

So many fun options! Happy New Year!!!
