The Cheesecake Factory- Downtown San Diego

Construction Begins July, 2012

As part of the Old Police Headquarters Renovation Project near Seaport Village, a potential major anchor tenant has been recently identified, promising another exciting addition to Downtown.

The OPH refurbishment has been in progress since 2004 and has been moving slowly, but real progress has been made recently by Terramar Retail Ceners.  The OPH Project is a 5 year plan to refurbish Sea Port Village and is destined to begin the the near future…

With construction set to begin July 2012, and a Grand Opening date of late 2013, the Historic Police Headquarters will bring new life and excitement to the Marina District.  As a beautifully revitalized entrance of Seaport Village, visitors from around the world will now get to enjoy an enchanting destination for dining and entertainment, rich in San Diego’s historic roots.

Terramar had been looking to secure an anchor tenant that would attract visitors to the area, and The Cheesecake Factory looks to be a perfect fit!

The Old Police Headquarters Rennovation Project- San Diego

When the Manchester Grand Hyatt was approved it came with a guarantee that Ruocco Park and a park in front of the OPH would be completed. This promise will be honored so the South Harbor Drive side of the OPH will include a park and perhaps some outside dining for a participating restaurant.

The major components of this ambitious project will include:

  • Ruocco Park–  An newly expanded and renovated park to the North of Seaport Village.  This will be a prime waterfront Park between Seaport Village and The Historic USS Midway Museum.
  • Seaport Village- Renovation and Expansion.
  • Harbor Seafood Mart- Renovation.
  • New Specialty Shops
  • New Restaurants

Shops in the OPH are restricted to restaurants and specialty shops focused on tourists and local residents (via william at dh online). Terramar’s intent is to focus on upscale restaurants and shops.

Restaurants that are considering locating at the property include:

Cheesecake Factory
Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

Surely, 2013 is looking to be an exciting year for Downtown San Diego with the opening of the New Central Library, North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I, Ruocco Park, and now the Old Police Headquarters Project!

  1. Frank- Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. From my understanding, there will be several restaurants in the OPH project. I am not sure on the status of any of the prospective anchors to be secured at this time. I have also heard about Pizzaria Mozza, and I did mention in the blog that the Harbor Seafood Mart- was part of the renovation. If you click on the links in the article you can dig a little deeper. From my understanding, the Harbor Seafood Mart will be similar to a Pikes Market in Seattle.

Stay tuned for more updates as we hear them…

Hello again..Is there any news on the construction of the Police Station? July is almost over. I Can’t find out anything and it looks like it’s never going to happen. Any new info?

  3. Fernando Forero says:

Hi! Do you have any information on the parking lot or if they are considering valet parking? Please let me know or maybe a contact name and number to discuss any further details? Thank you

Is there a general information number as well?

    • Hi Fernando, There is a parking lot at Seaport Village directly behind the old police headquarters and there will be some short term parking including 30 min and 2 hours at the new location. The grand opening is next month…it’s going to to be great!
