Spectacular St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

St. Patrick’s Day is this Sunday, and there will be plenty of celebrations happening this weekend. Here’s a look at the weekend festivities:

BALBOA PARK

The 33rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival in Balboa Park is Saturday, March 16th, from 9am-6pm.

At 10:30am, the parade starts off at Fifth Avenue and Juniper Street and proceeds North up Fifth Avenue to Upas, over to Sixth Avenue and South on Sixth to Juniper.

Irish Festival in Balboa ParkThe festival is held in conjuction with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and is for the entire family. Live entertainment on the Festival’s 2 stages will run from 11am – 5:30pm and will include well known folk singers and groups. The festival area opens at 9am with food and craft booths as well as two beer gardens serving ice cold Guiness and other beers, wines and spirits. There is also an authentic Celtic Village and Kids Zone with rides. The festival and its entertainment are free to the public.

GASLAMP

IRISH 4 A DAY – ST. PADDY’S EVEN PARTY HOP

On Saturday, March 16, from 2:00pm-2:00am, San Diego invites you to get lucky and party like an IRISH 4 A DAY in the Gaslamp Quarter while Ireland celebrates the 110th Anniversary of St. Patrick’s Day! Event is $29 in advance, $40 day of.

Party Hop Includes:

  • 12 hour long pub & club crawl from 2:00 to 2:00 PM
  • 11 drinks at 11 different locations (bartender’s choice)
  • No Cover admission to a total of 20 St. Paddy’s Eve Parties

SHAMROCK

This year’s 18th Annual ShamROCK 2013 festival will be taking place on Sunday, March 17th, from 2:00 pm until midnight between 5th and 7th Avenue and E and G Streets in the Gaslamp.

ShamROCK expects to draw over 20,000 people to the streets of the Gaslamp, where these Irish revelers can listen to live entertainment featuring the Young Dubliners, Irish Rock, Irish Punk Rock and many more. There will be 3 stages, a re-created 150-foot Irish pub and over 80,000 sqare feet of green Astroturf-turning the streets green.

This is a 21 and up only event. Advance tickets are $35 and $45 the day of. Your wristband into shamROCK will also get you in-and-out privileges, as well as, no cover and food and drink specials at dozens of the Gaslamp Quarter’s hottest nightclubs and restaurants. All proceeds will benefit the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation.
