South Park is a neighborhood in San Diego that is located east of Balboa Park, north of Golden Hill and south of North Park. The South Park name dates back to 1870 to when the original South Park Addition designation was registered. South Park is known for its fine collection of Craftsman and Spanish Colonial homes, which were built between 1905-1930. The neighborhood is home to a diverse population and is gaining repute for its small businesses. It is home to many great restaurants, cafes and bars including Vagabond, Big Kitchen, South Park Bar & Grill, Hamilton’s Tavern and Café, Rebecca’s Coffee House, Whistle Stop Bar and El Camino. The neighborhood also hosts a variety of events including the South Park Walkabouts, which feature live music, special offerings at restaurants, coffee shops and taverns, and the shops stay open late offering refreshments and specials.
