Del Mar is a small, seaside hideaway best known for its world famous thoroughbred racetrack, the county fair, its beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine and unique shopping. Del Mar’s historic downtown village dates back to the 1880s. Today it is lined with approximately 60 shops, 25 restaurants, many with oceanview patios, and cafes with sidewalk seating. With 2 miles of coastline, Del Mar’s famous beaches are an ideal destination for sunbathers, surfers, and there’s even a sliver of beach for dogs. Seagrove Park and adjoining Powerhouse Park are ideal grassy locations for a picnic, a stroll, a wedding and for gazing at the majestic Pacific Ocean. Throughout the summer residents and visitors alike enjoy the free concerts in the park.
