Solana Beach
Visit Solana Beach
Solana or “Sunny” Beach is a picturesque seaside city with two miles of pristine coastline, majestic bluffs and secluded coves. Located between Encinitas and Del Mar, the Pacific Ocean is on the west, Del Mar Racetrack to the south, Lomas Santa Fe Country Club to the east, and the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Park to the north. There are three small beaches but due to the crashing surf, they are better suited to surfers and body boarders than to sunbathers. Tide Beach Park is a good place to explore tide pools and is known for its snorkeling. The City is a favorite destination for those looking for eclectic shops, great dining, golfing, nightlife, and nearby hiking. The downtown portion of the city features the Cedros Design District which has boutiques, galleries, cafes and restaurants, plus a very popular night club called Belly Up Tavern, with live music that ranges from blues to rock, to jazz and hip hop. At the Solana Beach Station one can hop on the Coaster train which runs from Oceanside to San Diego, Amtrak, or the bright red double-decker bus that shuttles people to and from Del Mar Racetrack during the racing season.
