A San Diego Bay harbor cruise tour takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and shows how closely the city is tied to its maritime heritage. A harbor cruise is a great way to rest your feet and experience some amazing city views with ships docked beneath San Diego’s picturesque skyline, or watch sea lions lounge on a buoy.

Both the Hornblower Company and San Diego Harbor Excursions offer one and two hour San Diego harbor cruises that leave from the waterfront near the cruise ship terminal. One-hour tours either go out toward Point Loma or past the Coronado Bridge, the Navy Seals Training Base and the Navy ships of the Pacific Fleet. Both tours are quite interesting and with the price of a two-hour tour only a bit more than a one-hour one,  we recommend the longer tour if you have time.

We recommend that you bring warm clothing along on your harbor cruise. It’s always a bit cooler on the water and even when the weather is warm, the fog can come in quickly and the temperature drops with it. Don’t forget your camera, sunscreen, sunglasses and your sea legs.

If you decide to take a cruise at nighttime, there is a dinner cruise that is ideal for couples looking to spend a romantic night together. The awe-inspiring views of the skyline and a glass of wine are sure to spark a little magic or rekindle an old flame. Along with the opportunity to take in the breathtaking views, you’ll be served a delicious three-course gourmet meal and the cruise hosts enjoyable entertainment.
