San Diego 4th of July 2011 Fireworks Shows

The 4th of July is almost here! It’s time to start planning where you will go to view a spectacular fireworks show (if you aren’t able to see it from your home or neighborhood). There will be a variety of 4th of July activities and Fireworks shows throughout San Diego County including local theme parks and plenty of free viewing areas.  Here are this year’s fireworks shows and festivities:

Downtown San DiegoThe Annual Big Bay Boom Fireworks Show – Taking place along the waterfront Embarcadero in downtown San Diego, this is expected to be the largest fireworks show in San Diego County. Some choice viewing spots include: Seaport Village, Coronado Ferry Landing, Spanish Landing, Embarcadero Marina Parks North & South, Cesar Chavez Park, Coronado Tidelands Park, Imperial Beach Pier, Shelter Island and Harbor Island. The show begins at 9:00 p.m.

SeaWorld – The Shamu SkySplash USA will be held at Seaworld at 9:30 p.m. This will be an extended fireworks display (other nights fireworks are at 9:50 p.m.) and the park will be open until 11:00 p.m. This show may be viewed for free from Mission Bay Park.

Coronado – The 4th of July festivities will be throughout the day, beginning with a 7:00 a.m. run/walk, followed by a 10:00 a.m. parade down Orange Avenue, and then activities at Spreckels Park (located at 601 Orange Avenue) including a 4:00 p.m. concert, art fair, twilight concert and finally Glorietta Bay Fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

La Jolla – The La Jolla Bay Fireworks will be at 9:00 p.m. Great viewing spots include Ellen Browning Scripps Park, La Jolla Cove, along the La Jolla Coast Walk, La Jolla Shores and Kellogg Park.

Ocean BeachFireworks at the Ocean Beach Pier will begin at 9:00 p.m. For more information, call 619.226-8613.

National CityFireworks at Kimball Park begin at 9:00 p.m.

Chula VistaFireworks at the Chula Vista Yacht Harbor begin at 9:00 p.m.

Mira MesaFireworks at the Mira Mesa Community Park begin at 9:00 p.m. Other activities include food, rides, games & entertainment. For more information, call 858.538.8122

Poway – There will be old-fashioned 4th of July activities at the Old Poway Park from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Fireworks at Poway High School will begin at 9:00 p.m.

Legoland California (Carlsbad)Fireworks begin around 8:30 p.m. for their Red, White & Boom celebration. There will also be fireworks Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Oceanside – All day activities include a parade, street fair and fireworks at 9:00 p.m. For more information, call 760.789.1311
